Clinical Trial

ORACLE-BDBV Clinical Trial Project

ORACLE-BDBV is a clinical research initiative led in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo to evaluate NV-387, an investigational broad-spectrum antiviral, in patients affected by Bundibugyo ebolavirus disease (BDBV).

The project is being implemented in Bunia, Ituri Province, through a collaboration involving the Center for Tropical Diseases and Global Health of the Université Catholique de Bukavu (CTDGH-UCB)* and local health authorities. It combines clinical research, laboratory monitoring, biosafety, specimen management and field epidemiology within an outbreak-response setting.

Designed as an adaptive Phase IIA/IIB clinical trial, ORACLE-BDBV aims to generate early evidence on the safety, tolerability and potential clinical benefit of NV-387, while ensuring rigorous ethical oversight, Good Clinical Practice, independent safety monitoring and high-quality laboratory procedures.

Beyond the evaluation of a new therapeutic option, ORACLE-BDBV contributes to strengthening local clinical-trial capacity, outbreak preparedness, laboratory systems and research leadership in eastern DRC. The project illustrates CTDGH-UCB’s commitment to developing locally led, scientifically robust responses to high-consequence emerging infectious diseases.
